The 2022 Outside Counsel Rankings: Top Law Firms By Industry

Earlier this month, in partnership with our friends at Lake Whillans, we released our Outside Counsel rankings, an annual look at the Biglaw firms most trusted by corporate legal departments. Today, we focus on the firms rated highest by in-house counsel based on the industries in which they practice.

Drawing on input from hundreds of GCs and in-house lawyers from a range of business categories, we’ve compiled rankings for six different industries: Consumer Products/Retail, Energy, Finance/Banking, Healthcare/Life Sciences, Real Estate, and Technology. (Note that because there were a handful of tied scores in the Healthcare/Life Sciences category, that list includes 13 firms instead of 10.)

Thirteen firms appear on more than one of our industry lists, and the following four firms show up on three different lists:

• Gibson Dunn (Finance, Real Estate, Technology)
• Latham & Watkins (Energy, Healthcare, Technology)
• Perkins Coie (Healthcare, Real Estate, Technology)
• Wilson Sonsini (Finance, Healthcare, Technology)

These four firms are also featured in our Top Tier ranking, a list of the law firms with the highest overall ratings from in-house counsel across all sectors.
