Description
We have just been retained by our client, a renowned workplace and campus investigations law firm, to source an associate for their new San Diego office. All their attorneys act as neutral investigators and all attorneys are licensed in CA. They are hired as neutral investigators who go into a college or workplace to investigate harassment before anything is filed in court. They interview the complainant, respondent, witnesses, and review all documentation and policies. Their job is to act as a fact finder, and then write an investigative report, which can range from 12 pages to 100 pages. The ideal candidate will have a background in labor + employment law, education law, or litigation, with 3-7 years of experience. Some public sector experience would be a significant plus, as the new San Diego partner wants help in cultivating public sector clients. Ideally, you will already be in San Diego or planning to relocate there soon. They will also consider candidates located in Orange County or Inland Empire. They currently don't have a brick and mortar office, so to start this will be a largely remote arrangement, with meetings with the partner as needed in the San Diego office sharing space they have in place. This is a unique and interesting position, appealing to those who are tired of being at the mercy of the court. You will not have to file pleadings or conduct discovery. It is a very unique practice and this is a writing intensive position, so you must enjoy writing and be good at it. Even better news is that the billable hours requirement is only 1750! This role provides for a good base, plus discretionary and productivity bonuses for hours billed above 1750.
