Our client, a Fortune 100 Company based in the Southeast, seeks a VP Regulatory and Compliance Counsel with global responsibilities.  There will be a competitive compensation package of base plus bonus and equity. Ideal candidates will have experience in government or law enforcement (DOJ, Customs, ICE/INS, Homeland, Customs, etc.), and will have both public and private sector experience.This role will provide overall management direction to the company Trade Networks regulatory compliance department, and ensure compliance with all laws and regulations governing the Company’s activities on a global basis. You will also provide direction to the Company’s executive committee in the area of regulatory compliance, and represent the Trade Networks’ regulatory positions to governmental agencies. Specific responsibilities include:
Ensures company and subsidiaries are in compliance with Global laws and regulations pertaining to Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, ancillary services and E-commerce.  Ensures the development, implementation, and administration of policies and procedures to facilitate Global regulatory compliance. Directs the development of policies and procedures to address regulatory or procedural changes by governmental agencies and authorities. Represents and advocates the company’s Trade Networks interests to US governmental agencies and authorities, including but not limited to, Department of Homeland Security (DHLS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), USDA, OFAC, BIS, and foreign regulatory agencies and authorities with oversight into the business of the company’s Trade Networks, as well as various industry associations such as COAC, NCBFAA, NITL, and  others.Regularly reviews the regulatory compliance program, policies and procedures, and recommends appropriate revisions and modifications, including advising leadership and the board of directors of potential compliance risk areas. Develops and coordinates appropriate regulatory compliance training and education programs for employees Develops, coordinates, and oversees Company’s internal and external audit procedures related to Regulatory Compliance
A candidate with a JD and law license is preferred, and a Master's degree in logistics or similar field would be ideal. A US customs broker’s license is required and specialist certifications in import and export preferred.  Must have significant experience in regulatory compliance on a Global basis.  Must have broad knowledge of global customs requirements, trade laws, maritime, air transportation, surface transportation, distribution (logistics), and rail regulations and policies.  The client also wants to see strong leadership, management experience, planning, and communication skills. Frequent travel will be necessary.
