Our client is the Ann Arbor office of a thriving and busy immigration law firm with an immediate need for a bilingual associate to join. Are you fluent in English and Spanish? If yes, and you are licensed to practice law in the U.S. and have an interest in matters of immigration law, please read on! Our client is an immigration boutique dedicated to handling immigration law matters. They successfully guide individuals, businesses and organizations from across the United States and abroad. Our client handles all types of immigration issues and provides practical solutions at every stage of the process. They help clients achieve their goals in a professional and timely manner. About the Role: This position requires someone who has excellent attention to detail and is highly organized. The associate will be responsible for representing individuals in Immigration Court as well as before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. No prior immigration experience is required. Must be licensed in any jurisdiction in the United States. Responsibilities • Communicating with clients to learn about their legal needs and concerns and providing them with advice. • Developing strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively for clients. • Explaining legal options to clients and bringing possible outcomes or threats to their attention. • Preparing legal documents, such as contracts, dispositions, and pleadings, accurately and in a timely manner. • Staying informed about current legislation, especially concerning legal specialties. • Finding ethical solutions to legal matters. Work in these areas: • Jail Visits and Bonds • Deportation Defense and Representation in Immigration Court • Work Permits • Marriage Visas • Family Visas • Permanent Residence • Citizenship • DACA • Special Immigrant Juvenile Status • Waivers • Asylum • Appeals About You • Bachelor's degree in a related field. • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school. • Must be licensed in any jurisdiction in the United States. • Commitment to abiding by local, state, and federal laws and behaving ethically. • Ability to work independently or with a team of attorneys to develop the case strategies. • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, public speaking skills. • Ability to negotiate, research, and communicate verbally and in writing effectively both in Spanish and English. • Adaptability and attention to detail.
