It’s becoming a trend. More and more Biglaw firms are realizing that they need to step up their parental leave game. Now, Paul Hastings has joined the party with gender neutral, extended paid leave.

The new program will be effective July 1, and includes 14 weeks paid parental leave for all new parents. Additionally, birthing parents will have up to an additional 8 weeks of leave, for a total of 22 weeks paid leave. Other key points of the improved program is that it applies to all legal and business professionals, and there are no longer any length of service requirements to enjoy the leave.

Kudos to Paul Hastings on their new policy. Firms stepping up their family friend policies is something we’ll continue to pay attention to — particularly as we head into recruiting season.
