Biglaw Firm Exceeds Associates' Bonus Expectations

It's always nice to get a little extra for a job well done!

The end of the years is steadily marching forward and a number of Biglaw firms have yet to tell their associates what to expect in their stockings. But associates at Hogan Lovells have to wonder no more.

According to sources HoLove already informed associates they’d be matching the scale set by Cravath at the start of bonus season, but there would be discretionary bonuses above the market rate for those that performed particularly well in 2017. Folks are reporting HoLove was pretty generous with that discretionary fund. In fact, tipsters say it isn’t even hours based (but assuming you hit the 2,000 hour minimum), and associates there are quite happy with the results:

[I received] little bit above market. No clear reason why, though the firm does have a (by application) system to award additional discretionary bonuses, for which I did NOT apply. I’m very pleasantly surprised and happy.

Please help us help you when it comes to bonus news at other firms. As soon as your firm’s bonus memo comes out, please email it to us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Bonus”) or text (646-820-8477), or tweet (@ATLblog). We always keep our sources anonymous — and that includes our sources for bonus stories. There’s no need to send the memo using your firm email account; your personal email account is fine. Please be sure to include the memo as proof; we like to post complete bonus memos as a service to our readers. You can take a photo of the memo and attach as a picture if you are worried about metadata in a PDF or Word file. Thanks for your help.
