Biglaw Firm Beats Cravath Scale With Special Bonuses

Beating the market once again.

biglaw money surfingCravath may have set the standard but Cahill, Gordon & Reindel is coming over the top. In addition to the standard, end of the year bonuses — which mirror the standard set by CSM — associates in good standing are getting special bonuses from $10,000 to $40,000 depending on class year as follows:

The bonuses will be paid in January — the 6th for the special bonus, and the end of January for the end of year bonus. Tipsters report they are “pretty excited” about the news, and with paydays this big, who can blame them?

Cahill has a history of beating the market: in the past they’ve offered special bonuses in the summer and at the end of the year so the associates could share in the bounty. But last year Cahill met the going market rate, but did no more. While at plenty of firms meeting the market standard would be cause for cheer, it was met with concern at Cahill. It’s good to see times are good again at 80 Pine Street and the recent associate raises didn’t trade off with bonuses.
