pexels-federico-orlandi-3260626Anyone who’s been involved in litigation, especially complex litigation, knows just how many facts and issues there are to wrangle. Too many lawyers rely on a number of disparate systems to handle case strategy and analysis, which is time-consuming and inefficient. Even worse, it creates roadblocks to the kind of team collaboration you need to succeed.

CaseMap has long been a respected name in the case management arena. While it was a major improvement on those disparate systems litigators had to rely on, it was traditionally tied to user desktops, which didn’t help with the need for better collaboration. Now, however, LexisNexis has taken its trusted fact management and case analysis solution and moved it to the cloud, making it accessible anywhere, any time.

This new and improved version, CaseMap Cloud, allows you to better manage the facts and analysis of even your biggest cases, while seamlessly collaborating with your team. CaseMap Cloud is the comprehensive, easy-to-use solution you need to effectively and efficiently manage your cases.

Cloud-Based Case Management

Your CaseMap Cloud experience starts on your main dashboard landing page, which you access using your normal Lexis login credentials.

The CaseMap Cloud dashboard is fully interactive, allowing you to click into any of the case elements that are central to managing your cases. Case elements include facts, issues, people, organizations, documents, and research.

CaseMap Cloud is easy to navigate, with everything you need to know about your case available through a single click. Clicking into any element shows your activity in the past 28 days, whether it’s documents you’ve accessed or issues you’ve created. The idea is that you’ll always have an objective overview of where your case currently stands based on the information you’ve input to CaseMap Cloud.

As you add facts to CaseMap Cloud, you’re encouraged to objectively evaluate those facts as strong for or against your case (or somewhere in the middle), along with who’s disputing those specific facts. From these evaluations, CaseMap Cloud creates a heatmap for your case, color-coding facts in shades of green or red, so you can always see what’s working in your favor and what you might want to focus more attention on. It’s also a great way to see where there are potential holes in your case strategy or analysis.

Facts1

Each fact can be assigned to a particular issue or issues and tagged with any number of tags you want to create, including whether a fact is a key fact, if it relates to a particular case issue, if it pertains to a particular person or organization, and more. Users can create an infinite number of tags, allowing for maximum customization of the CaseMap Cloud experience.

You can also assign dates and times to your facts. Both that information and the tags you apply are fully filterable, so later on you can get right to the exact information you need when working on your case.

You can also upload relevant case documents and label them with descriptions, dates, and Bates numbers for later searching and filtering. The same tags you use for facts and issues can be applied to documents, as can permissions such as attorney client privilege or attorney work product. Finally, you can link research directly into your case in CaseMap Cloud thanks to integration with Lexis+.

All of these elements are used to create connections between the facts and issues of your case and the support you have for them. CaseMap Cloud is the easiest way to understand your case and position it for success.

Fact Chronology

If you need to export any of your information from CaseMap Cloud, there’s a handy reporting feature, with customizable reports.Better yet, because the system exists in the cloud, everyone on your team can access it whenever they need to, wherever they are, creating the best possible collaboration among everyone working on the case.

TimeMap: A Better Timeline

Anyone who’s ever worked on a litigation matter knows just how helpful timelines can be. Unfortunately, though, they’ve historically required a lot of time to create and usually live in software that’s separate from the rest of your case files.

Not with CaseMap Cloud. The TimeMap feature, CaseMap Cloud’s automatic timeline tool, is an incredibly easy way to create a timeline of your most relevant facts, complete with the documents that back them up.

When you create a new TimeMap, you’re able to choose from all the facts you’ve already created in CaseMap Cloud to build out the points that are most critical to that particular timeline. The filters discussed above make it even easier to be sure you’re including all the relevant facts.

TimeMaps are fully customizable. You can change the orientation, create comparative timelines, choose how stacked facts will appear, and determine how to account for gaps in time.

Comparative timelines are a particularly good way to contrast different sides of an issue, showing how facts or dates line up with your version of the case rather than your opponent’s. Individual TimeMap entries can be tagged and associated with underlying documents, further connecting all the elements of your case.

CaseMap Cloud’s timelines aren’t just beautiful, they’re efficient and critical to understanding your case. Once you use TimeMaps, you’ll never think about creating timelines the same way again.

TextMap: Better Transcript Management

Transcripts and deposition videos are an integral part of any case, and CaseMap Cloud has a brilliant way of dealing with them in TextMap.

Simply upload your transcripts and TextMap allows you to link specific page and line numbers of testimony to facts and issues in your case. You can also tie in a deposition video if one exists for your transcript.

TextMap tracks with the deposition transcript itself, allowing you to follow along and see how different testimony maps to different case issues. In addition, you can upload deposition exhibits, tag them as you did the transcript itself, and link them to facts and issues, creating further connections among all your case materials.

Simply put, CaseMap Cloud is the easiest way out there to manage your cases. With automatic timelines, synced transcripts and deposition videos, and the ability to fully collaborate with your team, CaseMap Cloud gives you the best possible tools for tracking your case and building your case strategy, all in one centralized place.
